Over the years, we have completed many design-build projects where we engage the architects and engineers to work under our umbrella to meet the customer’s performance standards. The Grove was one such project.
The 380,000 square foot power center is located in Hoover, Alabama, just south of Birmingham. We were challenged with building largest Target store in the world on a rocky hillside. The civil portion of the project (graded by Saiia Construction) involved moving 2.5 million yards of earth and rock.
State of the art blasting techniques were used to put the rock face of the hill behind the center in on a two-tiered 45 degree slope. This yielded valuable additional acreage and provided a unique vista as well. The center is not built on the top of the mountain, but nestled into it.
