iPads have invaded our office. And our job sites. And our work trucks.
We obtained them mainly to run PlanGrid, another tool for our PMs and our project superintendents on the job sites.
PlanGrid is a cloud-based system. Our guys create a project, then upload plans, specs, reports and schedules. Their mobile app syncs with online document management software, allowing us to access all our files from anywhere that has WiFi.
3 ways we are using PlanGrid’s technology:
1. Superintendents share an RFI with the project manager or architect.
2. Architects provide direction on plans as a markup.
3. Owners complete a punch list complete with photos and descriptions of areas in question.
The system allows for screen shots of a part or full sheets with all the markups and photos emailed right from iPad.
Since our first job in late 2013, we have now beta-tested on about a dozen projects. We recently showed the system to another national client and they have since adopted PlanGrid, requesting their architect, engineers, vendors, and fixture contractors all get on board.
How are you streaming the management process?
