It seems like Gen Z has been one of the most talked about generations. They are the first “digital natives” and probably felt the biggest social effects of the pandemic because it fell right in the middle of their formative years.
In the construction industry, Gen Z has the ability to make a huge difference in our industry. In the last week, I’ve read two articles calling this age group “The Toolbelt Generation,” referencing the much higher numbers of 20-somethings who are entering the trades. As you recall, we’ve being hearing about the number of skilled tradesmen retiring, and the difficulty replacing them. I believe that Gen Z could truly shift the conversation here, all while doing meaningful work either from the office or in the field. We’ve seen such positive contributions from our youngest professionals. My hope is to see the trend continue, and I have confidence that it will.
