Our team has been partnering with ConstructReach, a workforce development initiative and consultancy that builds reachable opportunities through construction. Their goal is to show young, diverse talent all the possibilities that a career in this industry can offer.
Throughout the year, ConstructReach travels across the country to connect students with hands-on learning opportunities. This week, we were fortunate to be part of the “I Built This” event in Nashville. We took some office leadership as well as two of our most experienced lead project superintendents to meet with students and walk them through our station. Stewart/Perry discussed project management on construction projects and how we are using the advancements made in the technology of drones for scheduling, documentation and quality control.
Other workstations included representatives from the trades, fire safety, building code and store design with Target Corporation. Students were able to fly a drone at our workstation, which was a big hit with both the attendees and our team members who were helping them. It was fun to be a part of an event that found a hands-on way to to bridge the gap between industry and education. We hope to see some of these bright students working on our projects in the future.
