This is a popular week to say “thank you.” To me, we’d do better to let our attitude of Thanksgiving spill over into the remaining 51 weeks. What if the rest of the year (and our lives) we considered saying thank you in different ways?

  •  Quietly sharing our gratefulness to friends and others as often as we post on social sites?
  •  Reaching out to those in need throughout the year who might be worthy of a second chance?
  • Thanking customers and those who help us regularly instead of at year’s end when everyone is doing it?

Studies say  this attitude of thankfulness will open the door to more relationships, improve health and even help you sleep better. We try to say thanks every week because we mean it, not just when it is a fashion statement.

For example, two of our carpenters recently thought to repurpose hardwood tailings destined for the barn’s wood stove. They fashioned the wood into cutting boards, as an act of gratitude. Say thanks, and always believe in second chances.
