Since we moved into our place on Overton Road in 2008, our garden has evolved and grown. It moved to a new location when we added our West Wing. What started as a few tomato plants is now many varieties of vegetables, fruits and flowers. We employ a gardener, who helps us choose what to plant, maintains the garden and brings in frequent harvests. We’re in the process of establishing a separate flower garden which will welcome guests as the arrive on campus.
With all these changes, one thing has remained the same: The garden brings our team together. On any given day, you’ll find someone taking a call at the central picnic table, enjoying the view of zinnias while they work. You’ll find team members gathered around our kitchen sharing table sampling blackberries still warm from the sun. You might even receive a recipe as an idea of how to use a new-to-us vegetable. This small plot of land has been invaluable for team building, and we hope it continues to expand each year.
