Ten years ago this summer, I made a trip to Maine, where I spent a week with the cabinet makers of Thos. Moser crafting a couple of rocking chairs. I was reflecting on that trip today, and got to thinking that if one wishes to be in your children’s memories tomorrow, you have to be in their lives today. With two of my three children currently living out-of-state, we sometimes have to be a bit more creative with our time together.

I’m hoping that in 2020, one of my children and I can head up to Auburn, ME and repeat the Customer in Residence experience I had with Thomas Moser a decade ago. Just the two of us, each having the opportunity to craft another piece of furniture while making some memories for a lifetime.

As Tom says, “Everything is subject to change and improvement,” and that includes ourselves. I hope that in the New Year, you’ll might be able to spend more time with the people who are important to you, making memories along the way.
