This week, I had lunch with a couple of longtime acquaintances. One is a banker with a Fortune 100 company, and the other is a successful multifamily developer. Our conversation drifted to hiring great talent in this tight market, and what we look for in new team members.

Having the necessary background and experience is of course a must, but we kept coming back to two soft skill attributes: Effort & Attitude. We want to surround ourselves with people are willing to give 100% with a smile, folks who care about their reputation, and work hard to protect it. The goals is for our hires to be long-term team members, and we need to be a fit for one another. For us, these attributes have proven to be the key.
