Solutions & Thoughts

There are times when we are trying to have that “break through idea or solution” and all we get are jagged thoughts that nag the problem. Having said this, have you ever noticed that our brains pull through at the most uncanny times? It seems we all have this specific category of time that’s unique to us.

I’ve heard about people having an idea for a new business while exercising, or finally solving a complicated problem while on vacation. My best ideas come up before the sun.

All of these situations have something in common: There’s no pressure. My breakthroughs always seem to emerge when I am not actually pursuing them. For me, it is generally when I am just waking up. At times, it seems like a full rush of great ideas come to the surface so fast I have to get Siri to help me remember them all. I guess it is the relaxed state of being asleep. At other times, if I am working on some kind of complex and nonlinear problem, I make a decision to put it into my subconscious, and miraculously, in a few days, a solution is found. These are my special times, and I am thankful.

For others, it might be that early morning walk or run, playing a solo round of golf or just sitting by a stream. Find that “aha moment” and enjoy the process.
