These construction services are offered to our customers for their projects that are remodeled, repositioned in the market, altered from one use to another or restored to a former use. Depending on customer goals, the building may retain a portion of the existing architectural elements. At times, these methods are more efficient and can possibly expedite the entitlement process to redevelop existing buildings that lie near the urban core or secure historic tax credits for buildings where this may apply. At the end of the day, value add, adaptive reuse and historic restoration are all about “smart growth.”

one721

Our one721 project came with a story. The building, constructed in 1929, was home to Seals Piano and then a handful of furniture stores until the 1960s. It sat vacant for decades. Thanks to historic tax credits and a little imagination, we were able to recreate the interior and shape a home for the Alabama Futures Fund. Inside one721, you’ll find a combination of unique historic features paired with modern conveniences. We recreated the original plaster walls, capitalizing on the brick and beam design. Bead board ceilings, hardwood floors and second floor skylights were restored to be period-correct. We also installed a WIFI thermostat system, high efficiency HVAC, LED lighting systems and modern access controls to provide everything tenants would need for an up-to-date office space. The result blends the past with the present seamlessly, making an ideal home for the venture capital company that now calls one721 home.
