These construction services are offered to our customers for their projects that are remodeled, repositioned in the market, altered from one use to another or restored to a former use. Depending on customer goals, the building may retain a portion of the existing architectural elements. At times, these methods are more efficient and can possibly expedite the entitlement process to redevelop existing buildings that lie near the urban core or secure historic tax credits for buildings where this may apply. At the end of the day, value add, adaptive reuse and historic restoration are all about “smart growth.”

Redmont Hotel
1 of 6
Originally constructed in 1925, the Redmont Hotel has long been a landmark in Birmingham’s Central Business District. Stewart/Perry worked through complex historic tax credits to make this renovation a reality, honoring the spirit of the building, while making it ready for modern guests.
The Redmont Hotel renovation involved 120 guest rooms–all of which required an entirely updated bathroom–as well as common spaces. These included a first-floor restaurant and bar, meeting space, office space and a fitness center. As is often the case with historic buildings, our team discovered a surprise or two along the way. We brought outdated mechanical systems up to code and connected to an existing plumbing and sprinkler system to reduce cost. The restored hotel is now a beautifully furnished part of Hilton’s Curio Collection.
